Beauty never looked so tough.

Toyota PradoThe highly refi ned exterior lines of Prado have not occurred by chance. Every element has been painstakingly designed to serve a specifi c purpose.

Functionality comes to the fore with a muscled-up front-end featuring sophisticated chrome vertical grille bars (VX and Kakadu models only). On the VX and Kakadu models, the headlamps feature stylish Daylight Running Lamps (DRLs) to give an assured presence on the road. With powerful halogen headlamps on the GX and GXL and stylish LED headlamps on the VX and Kakadu, the path ahead will be bright even on the darkest nights.

Particular attention has been paid to refi ning Prado aerodynamics. Airfl ow is effi ciently redirected around the front bumper, the tyres and wheel housings. It’s channelled under the car and over the roof to smoothly exit behind the vehicle while the aero stabilising fi ns support airfl ow past the outer mirrors and rear lights. Even air flowing through the radiator is carefully deflected to reduce turbulence.

Then should the weather take a turn for the worst, the rain sensing wipers on VX and Kakadu models will automatically spring into action.

Find everything at your command.

Toyota Prado commandCast your eyes forward from within Prado, and you’ll notice every feature and control has been carefully placed for maximum practicality and visibility.

On Kakadu models the centre console incorporates the controls for all off -road functions, so it’s easy to select what you need, precisely when you need to.

Every switch is illuminated to catch your eye in all driving conditions. A Combination Meter presents vital information to drivers in the GX and GXL via twin cylindrical dials that are backlit to provide a precise, three-dimensional appearance.

The VX and Kakadu also feature an Optitron Combimeter with enhanced backlighting that incorporates a colour Multi Information Display (MID) that presents four separate zones of information. These include trip information, ride and transmission settings, outside and travel conditions and details of many vehicle operations and drive functions.

Comfort to master every situation.

Toyota Prado comfortWhether in traffic, out in the wild, on holiday or a family weekend away, you’ll always be travelling first class in Prado. It begins with Smart Entry and Start system, allowing you to unlock and get going while the key remains in your pocket or bag.

Gently grip the premium steering wheel on the GXL, VX and Kakadu, and you’ll find the switches for cruise control, audio and phone functions at your fingertips.

You’ll always stay snug in heated front and second-row seats in the Kakadu and VX. Then when things start heating-up, air-conditioning with a clean-air filter will keep you cool, featuring automatic tri-zone comfort on GXL, VX and Kakadu models, including a separate rear control panel.

With a minimum of six and a maximum of fourteen speakers, Prado sounds as good as it looks. Experience breathtaking audio quality from CD, radio and your iPod®1, as well as advanced connectivity via Bluetooth®2 with audio streaming or via a USB input.3 And all can be operated using simple touchscreen control.

Rear passengers in the Kakadu can also enjoy video entertainment provided by the integrated Blu-ray player with a large 9" colour monitor, while listening on wireless headphones. The luxurious touches even extend to a cool box in the Kakadu centre console with space for four 500ml bottles.

Now go and get rough.

Toyota Prado roughWhen the time comes to farewell the bitumen and head off -road, Prado is built to take you there and safely back again. With Variable Flow Control (VFC) power steering, you’ll always have the ideal feel and level of assistance to suit the conditions.

The double wishbone front and 5-link rear suspension provide excellent handling stability and comfort even when the going gets rough. The Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) on the VX and Kakadu models electronically controls the suspension to provide gentler behaviour. The Adaptive Variable Suspension system (AVS) on the Kakadu also allows you to choose from three modes to dampen the shock absorbers to suit particular driving conditions.

You’ll also appreciate the advanced off -road assistance of Active Traction Control (A-TRC) to eliminate wheel spin on slippery surfaces by automatically distributing the power to the tyres with the best grip. When faced with heading up or down steep slopes, Hill-start Assist Control (HAC)4 and Downhill Assist Control (DAC)4,5 will prevent you rolling backwards or descending too fast and getting out of shape. The Kakadu also features CRAWL Control6 to allow you to maintain a low constant speed on challenging surfaces by automatically and independently controlling both engine power and brake input to each wheel. The Multi- Terrain Select system (MTS)7 is an evolution of the A-TRC function and allows you to select grip assistance according to the terrain. Plus the Rear Diff erential Lock can be activated to further optimise grip.

And keeping you in touch with the situation, the Multi-Terrain Monitor (MTM)7,8 allows the driver to get a close look at the conditions right around the vehicle.

The power and the glory.

Toyota Prado enginePrado provides you with two great engine options. Both offering all the muscle and finesse you’ll ever need to complete your personal mission.

The big V69 with Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) is a real powerhouse. It pumps out an impressive 202kW and has plenty of pulling power thanks to the 381Nm of torque. All delivered through a highly responsive 5-speed automatic transmission, with multi-mode to give you the option of manual control.

The 3.0 litre Turbo-diesel delivers a silky smooth 127kW of direct-injected power and an awesome 410Nm of torque, so you’ll have the grunt to tackle the muddiest trails. Yet even with such impressive performance, this engine also delivers suffi cient fuel effi ciency with 8.8L/100km,10 or around 1,700km per tank, for the 6-speed manual transmission.11

Safety throughout.

Toyota Prado safetyWherever your Prado takes you, an incredible array of safety features will protect you. The ‘Safe T-Cell’ body is designed to take impact from the front, rear and sides. Seven SRS airbags, including full-length side curtainshield airbags, help provide you with all round protection.

The Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) uses electronic sensors in both the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Traction Control (TRC) to help correct any potential oversteer or understeer when cornering, in all driving conditions. Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) automatically puts more braking force on the wheels that need it most. In the event of an emergency when rapid braking is called for, Brake Assist (BA) will apply extra force to the brakes to help deliver the shortest and safest possible braking distance.

The reversing camera12 provides clear vision of what’s behind. And the Back Guide Monitor (BGM) on Kakadu also provides on-screen guidelines to help you manoeuvre. Plus the front and rear parking sensors13 signal how close you are to any obstacle. On the open road, the Active Cruise Control (ACC)14 on Kakadu will automatically keep you a safe distance from traffic ahead. And if you’re towing, Trailer Sway Control (TSC) uses sensors to suppress sway triggered by elements including wind, bumpy roads and the steering operation.
